From Nature Photography to Plants
For as long as I can remember, I've carried a camera.
Long before rare houseplants, grow lights, and IKEA greenhouse cabinets, I spent my free time exploring forests, lakes, mountains, and winding trails. My nature photography account has always been guided by the same idea: wanderlust and nature — a constant desire to get outside and discover something new.
Over the years, that curiosity found its way into my garden. Raised beds appeared, disappeared, and were rebuilt. New vegetables were tested. Berry bushes were planted. The space kept evolving, just like I did.
Indoor plants followed a similar path.
I've always had plants around me, but things truly changed when I built my first IKEA greenhouse cabinet and customized it to fit my growing collection. What started as a project quickly became an obsession. Suddenly, there was always one more plant I wanted to learn about, grow, or rescue.
My first truly special plant was a Monstera Albo Variegata.
Since then, the collection has grown into a mix of aroids, experiments, successes, setbacks, plants in soil, plants in Pon, and plenty of lessons learned along the way.
Looking back, I don't see photography, gardening, and houseplants as separate hobbies.
They're all part of the same thing: a fascination with growth, nature, and the joy of creating something that evolves over time.
And that's exactly what Plants by Ida is about.
